Proven Coaching Methodologies
Before we discuss the proven coaching methodologies let’s have a look at the difference between methodology and method as these two terms are often, and inaccurately, assumed to mean the same thing.
Coaching methods are the tools, techniques or processes that we use in our practice. These might be, for example, surveys, 360 interviews, assessments, or shadow coaching. Methods and how they are used are shaped by methodology.
Methodology is the study of how coaching is done, how we find out about things, and how knowledge is gained and progression is made. In other words, methodology is about the principles that guide our coaching practices. Methodology therefore explains why we’re using certain methods or tools with our coachees.
