Before coaching the world's most demanding executives, Ton de Graaf operated in environments where ambiguity wasn't a strategy challenge; it was a survival condition. His background in The Royal Dutch Military Police as a platoon leader and as Captain in the Royal Dutch Airforce shaped a coaching philosophy built on precision, directness, and a refusal to accept comfortable half-measures.
Following his military service, Ton held senior leadership and transformation roles across construction, insurance, banking, and professional services. He led strategic change programmes for a market-leading construction company, advised executives on complex business and organisational challenges in the insurance sector, directed leadership and talent development within banking, and served as General Manager in a professional services organisation.
These experiences provided first-hand exposure to the realities of leading change, aligning stakeholders, managing performance, and executing strategy in demanding business environments. They form the foundation of the practical, results-oriented approach that characterises his executive coaching today.
